Walikology: Letting My New York Tongue Wag
Haven't done this in a while, so forgive me if I stumble a bit.
For a while I've been biting my writing tongue at the longstanding battle between Boston and New York. Two issues: 1) My father has lived in Dorchester for a good majority of his adult life and adopted the Boston teams as his very own, and 2) Using the Big Four major spots in this next scenario: due to many visits there as a kid, and a visit from a goalie named Pete Peeters when I got into the game of hockey as a very serious fan and an accidental teenage player, I am a rabid Boston Bruins fan.

But if you need some more persuading then check out what she did on one of her rare days off.
“This was my one day off and instead of a spa day I experienced a WWII dog fighting simulation,” Hinton said.“I kept telling the guy to get me to blackout; I wanted to experience that just one time,” she said and the pilot asked her, ‘are you sure?’ and she said, “Please do.”
Best Mets - - Creates Debate and Shines The Correct Light on the Franchise
This book by Taylor Trade Publishing does a nice job of painting a complete word picture involving the franchises good times and bad times.
Then we get into the ranking of the 50 greatest Mets. Tom Seaver was the top guy and I’m not and the author, Matthew Silverman isn’t breaking any ground there.
Now when we get to #6 having David Wright there seems to be a bit of a rush. He might end up there over time but I don’t think he’s there yet.
I love all the profiles of players who didn’t make the list and I also like the players’ top picks. They are interesting to see.
Is Tom Brady More Powerful Than Eli Manning?
On the latest 100 MOST POWERFUL ATHLETE LIST, New York Giants quarterback, Eli Manning (15) who is usually “unstoppable, according to his Citizen watch ad) was sacked by Patriots slinger Tom Brady (3) who is also on the list.
After you review the list one thing is for sure, quarterbacks are the power position in sports.
Jonathan Toews (69), Daniel Sedin (76) and Tim Thomas (86) all made the list. This shows that the NHL is a lot more visible then it used to be.

Flyers Suffer Another Shootout Loss, Fall to Jets 2-1
Philadelphia -- The Philadelphia Flyers played their third consecutive shootout contest, their second of three with Ilya Bryzgalov in net. That combination was not a winning one as the Winnipeg Jets’ Brian Little beat the Flyers netminder and delivered his team a 2-1 victory in South Philadelphia.
It was a game that saw a sluggish start after the weeklong NHL All Star break as neither team generated a shot on goal in the opening ten minutes.

When Speechless Says So Many Things
OTTAWA -- Jeremy Roenick stopped, almost stunned.
He was speechless.
Jeremy Roenick is never speechless. In fact, when he should be speechless, he says even more.
But on this day, at the Ottawa Convention Centre, he was draped in a blanket of humbleness. As he met and held a two-year-old boy, he realized just how much impact a hockey player can have on someone. He realized that when you are a person of privilege, as he has been for so long, that one simple gesture – a gift of time and effort – can last in a family for generations.
Hockey’s comeback kid of 2011-12 comes back to where his NHL career began
OTTAWA -- What a difference a year makes. At this time last year, Brian Elliott was struggling with consistency whil e playing in goal for an underachieving team.
You couldn’t say the Ottawa Senators were going nowhere. They were already there.
In the few games that the team did manage to win, Elliott was, more often than not, the difference.

Pat Brisson, Crosby’s agent shed some light on his recent diagnosis of a vertebrae injury which may be a clue into getting Crosby out of the concussion zone and back on the ice. The Penguins reacted well after getting the news.
“They have always been very supportive, Mario and Ron. They were very pleased to hear that.”

For that story, we have to go back to 1933 and one of the most violent incidents in the history of professional sports.
