Catch a Future Star with In The Game's Heroes & Prospects

Once again In The Game returns with the number one prospect hockey card set with the 2009-2010 Heroes & Prospects set. This year the base set is 150 cards, which is a good size for set builders and collectors that like to break packs, and with an insert ratio of 1:8 everyone will be happy.

This season the base is stacked with prospects as there are only four heroes (Elmer Lach, Ted Lindsay, Larry Kwong, and Ted Kennedy) and 15 AHL Grads (that include Jay Bouwmeester, Eric Staal, Jason Spezza, & Zach Parise to name a few).

There are also four International Prospects and they are Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Jacob Josefson, Dmitry Kulikov, and Mikkel Boedker. From here it is all prospects that have been playing in North America in either the American Hockey League or the three CHL leagues. 34 cards are AHL players and then there are 10 AHL rookies. The next 71 cards are CHL players and the remanding 10 cards are CHL rookies(THAT’S RIGHT ALL ARE THE FIRST CARD OF THAT PLAYER).

The cards are vertical and have a background picture of a crowd. The players picture is infront of the teams logo that is on the boards behind the player, while the players name and team name are on two small bars with the Heroes and Prospects logo to the left and the ITG logo above that.

If you build sets you should be able to complete the 150 base card set with only two boxes. But if you like inserts then this is also for you there are six non-memorabilia insert sets including the all new Enforcers set that has some of the toughest players in the AHL, plus there are 118 autographed cards, and 16 memorabilia cards that includes three autographed memorabilia sets.

Collectors that have been following the releases of the set from itgtradingcards.com might have noticed that the new Enforcers set shrank from an 18 card set to a 10 card set, the reason that happened was due to the fact that the AHL did not want pictures of players involved in fights.

“When fans go to hockey games there are two reasons they get out of their seats, the first is when their team scores a goal and the other is when there is a fight,” stated In The Game Owner Dr. David Price. “We had photos of the players involved in fights and then as we were going to print we were told we could not use those photos.”

THE GOOD
In The Game went out and secured some of the top prospects and draft prospects and has the first card for these players in the set. As in the past with John Tavares, Alex Ovechkin, and Sidney Crosby In The Game has picked the top players in the past who will be next?

THE BAD
The bad is not from anything that In The Game did but rather the American Hockey League. The AHL told ITG not to use pictures of players fighting, but at the AHL All Star Game and the AHL Hall of Fame Induction they showed a video of two goaltenders fighting. This is a classic example of due as I say, not as I do.

OVERALL
Go and build the set, break packs, due whatever it takes as a collector. This product should be in your want list. It has something for everyone!
