Section 8 Comics is an independent comic company that currently has two titles out. The first is Section 8 Comics Preview #1 and the second is Star’s Edge #1. Both are printed in black and white and is bound and not stapled.

The Section 8 Comics Preview #1 is a very good preview issue and has a little of everything and then some of what they are gonna have to offer. Preview #1 has four comic previews, four panel joke strips, concept artwork and even web previews. The concept art was my favorite part as the shading from the original pencils were still visible and they were well drawn.

Star’s Edge – we first meet Edge in the Section 8 Comics Preview where we find him in not only a fight for his eyes but also his life, and when he wins we learn that he is a gladiator from earth but on a distant planet, and he has just won his 100th match and has one match to go.

IN Star’s Edge we learn more about Edge and how he got to be a gladiator. We find out about Edge’s past and how he can get out of being a gladiator. We follow his training with Ja’Gar, and we see some of his major battles against some of his biggest foes.

THE GOOD
The Star’s Edge story is good, and they took some time to make sure the story was long enough to fill the 32 pages but not to long so that the story is drawn out. And like any good comic they leave you wanting more and to see what happens next on the last page.

THE BAD
The artwork isn’t bad, but it does need some work, and that area is the shading with the inks. When they get the shading down it will make the artwork a lot better, and that will just add to the book.

OVERALL
If you are looking for something out of the ordinary and something you or your friends have not read then take a look at Section 8. If you want to know more about their titles the preview is for you, if you want a complete story then go for Star’s Edge. They are available at Phoenix of Westchester (http://www.phoenix-comics.com/)
