Whatever Happened to the World of Tomorrow? Well we take a look of what our fathers thought the world of tomorrow would look like by going back to the time when they were kids.
The story starts back in 1939 with the main character Buddy and his father going to the New York City World’s Fair, and they are only two of over 45 million people to attend the event.
Buddy is a preteen when the story starts, and we follow him over the decades and watch him grow up with his father there. We see what our parents imagined what the turn of the century would bring, from flying cars to robots that would do all our housework. The story also shows how a child and father might grow apart, yet at the same time remain close as ever.
The book has a unique addition to it, and that is that includes comic books inside. So as you read the story and Buddy takes time out to read one of his comics, you get to read the adventures of Commander Cap Crater. IN total there are four comics inside the graphic novel.
THE GOOD
This might sound odd but the dust cover adds to the book inside. The hardcover book has the city of tomorrow, but the dust cover has a father and his son walking together during what looks like the 1940. But the dust cove doesn’t go all the way to the top of the book and it looks like Buddy and his father are walking to what they believe tomorrow will be.
THE BAD
Most comic book shops probably won’t carry this title so you will have to go to your local bookstore and track it down. But this is the “World of Tomorrow” and with the internet it will be easy to either find a store that has the book, or even order it online.
OVERALL
If you have young children this book is a must have for both them and you. It will remind you of what you went through growing up, and it can help them by showing them that they are not alone in life and that everyone grows through challenges.
